Welcome to (meteorological) fall, y'all! With a new month comes a new meteorological season. Remember meteorological seasons are divided based on average temperatures. Meteorological summer and winter are the warmest and coldest the three months of the year, respectively. Fall and spring fill in the gaps in the calendar. The period from September 1st to November 30th is defined by cooling average temperatures. At the start of meteorological summer Lexington's average temperatures are 84° and 63°. The average high will fall to 49° and the average low to 32° by the end of November.

This may be all the reason you need to order your first pumpkin spice latte of the season, or justify your order. But for the doubters can still hold onto summer for a couple more weeks. The Autumnal Equinox is September 23rd.
