VERSAILLES, Ky. (LEX 18) — Every year as the weather starts to warm up, Eckert's Orchard opens up for the season. This year is no exception.
"With us being agriculture and raising crops here at the farm, those are perishables items so we needed to open," General Manager Megan Fields said.
But they've also had to make changes. They are enforcing social distancing, mandating that employees wear masks and installing shield guards at their cash registers. They've also had to close the playground, cafe and ice cream shop.
Eckert's has also closed their "pick-your-own produce" where they let customers in the field to pick crops.
"We determined that it was just best because that's a family experience and with the limit one per person or household, we just have decided at this time we are not doing pick your own," Fields said.
Fields says things could change on what is open or not through-out the season, but you can always look at their social media for updates.
