It may be back to school week, but Mother Nature says summer isn't over yet. We started to feel some of the upcoming heat today with highs near 90°. There's so much more to come. We may start to wear out the phrase "hot and humid" this week.

Here's the set-up. A high has been pumping intense heat across the southern Plains and Deep South over the past week. This heat will spread into Kentucky over the coming days. The mercury will rocket into the low to mid 90s Monday. The humidity is also on the rise, so the heat index will be in the upper 90s to near 100°. This will be a sustained heat wave with high temperatures bouncing around the 90s. There will be a *little* relief come mid-week. Scattered storm chances beginning Tuesday will "cool" us off with highs backing off into the upper 80s Wednesday and Thursday. Sunny, hot and humid days will be on repeat through next weekend.
