Sixth-grader killed in Pike County house fire

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) — A school in Pike County has confirmed that one of their students was killed in an overnight house fire.

Kentucky State Police were called to the Stone community to reports of a house fire. Crews found the body of a girl inside the home.

Mullins School posted that grief counselors were being made available to students. The school's Facebook post identified the girl as Ayla Eastwood, a sixth-grader. The post described her bright personality.

She was a member of the school's competition cheer team.
