LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Wildcat fans had their worst fears confirmed on Sunday evening when Coach Stoops announced that quarterback Terry Wilson will be out for the season.

Wilson was injured while playing Eastern Michigan, and as fans watched him go down they immediately began to worry about how this will affect the rest of the season.

"As soon as I saw him go down, and they brought the cart out, I was terrified," said Wildcat fan Nick Jourdan.

Coach Stoops said he will need surgery to repair his left patellar tendon.

So now fans are looking ahead to the rest of the season, especially next Saturdays game versus the Florida Gators. Last year, the Cats broke their 31 year losing streak to Florida winning 27-16.

Sawyer Smith will likely be taking the position of quarterback for the season, and fans were pleased with his performance.

"When he threw that first touchdown, oh my gosh, to Wagner fantastic, that gave me ton of reassurance as a Kentucky fan," said Nick Jourdan.

The Wildcats take on the Florida Gators at Kroger Field this Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
