FAYETTE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Fayette County Board of Education said there will be no high school sports practices Monday as school board members mull their final decision on the fall sports season.

In a release issued Friday, the FCBE said it will vote on Monday whether to approve the KHSAA's plan to move forward with practice and game schedules.

“The safety of our students, staff, and families will continue to be the primary consideration in everything we do,” FCPS Superintendent Manny Caulk said.

Jefferson County Public Schools has also scheduled a special Board of Education meeting for 7 p.m. Monday to discuss the fall sports schedule.

A source told LEX 18 that Fayette Co. Athletic Directors had a meeting to discuss cancelling the first game of the season, scheduled for September 11.

As of Friday evening, Henry Clay has been the only school to cancel any games, cancelling its first two games of the season against Pulaski Co. and Frederick Douglass.

The other athletic directors will wait and see what the board will say when they meet again on Monday.
