After a few lingering showers and storms finally fade Thursday we're in for a steamy summer heat wave- the hottest air of the year! Expect highs to soar into the low to mid 90s and with high humidity the heat index will spike too. It'll feel like it's in the triple digits in the afternoon, through the end of the week and into the weekend.
An excessive heat warning is in effect Thursday PM through Sunday PM for heat indices in the 100° to 105° range in the Bluegrass but pushing 105° to 110° west toward I-65. A heat advisory is in effect for southeastern counties. Stay cool, stay hydrated and if you work outside take breaks and don't overdo it.
