LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Lexington girl has been collecting purses all summer long to give to the homeless.

Nevaeh Southern is autistic and has epilepsy. She wanted to give back to the community so she has filled dozens of bags with personal hygiene tools, pens and other supplies they may need. On Sunday she gave them out around downtown Lexington.

“It brings tears to my eyes, I’m very proud of her that she is this compassionate has this much empathy towards others, because if she can be this way others can to and it can change the world,” said Angela Southern.

This isn't Nevaeh's first time helping out, she traveled to Florida back in November to help out victims of Hurricane Michael.
