LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Thursday morning and people got a chance to check out the new Lexington Visitors Center.

It’s now located in Lexington’s historic courthouse in the Courthouse Square.

Those attending the ribbon cutting also got a chance to tour the state of the art visitors center.

Tourism in the Bluegrass represents $3.2 billion in economic impact for Lexington and the region.

The new interactive visitors center showcases horses, arts, culture, and bourbon.

"The goal was 100 percent to wow! We wanted the visitor’s center to be an expression of what we believe you find when you are out and about in this great city, which to me is a wow!" said Mary Quinn Ramer, the president of VisitLex.

The welcome center will also allow for meetings and conventions in addition to leisure travelers from around the US and world
