FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — Gov. Andy Beshear announced that there are 11,945 COVID-19 cases and 493 coronavirus-related deaths in the state of Kentucky.

Thursday's results include 69 new cases and nine new deaths. There have been 3,379 recoveries.

Gov. Beshear did say a majority of the results did not record for Thursday due to a backup in the system they submit their cases to, but they will be included in Friday's results. He added not to look too much into Thursday's low numbers that are reported.

In addition to the COVID-19 update, Gov. Beshear confirmed that he expects a bi-partisan vote Friday from the commission to remove the Jefferson Davis statue from the State Capitol.

There will also be a plan put out for the return of school on Monday.
