OLDHAM COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Friends and family are remembering Jeff Fuson, the founder and pastor of Phos Community Church, who died from the coronavirus Saturday.

The 56-year-old old husband and father had been battling the virus for several weeks. On July 11, he shared a heartfelt post on Facebook stressing how serious and dangerous the virus. The post said "I am in a fight like you would never wanna be in" and went on to share, "I'm to toe in the ring with this invisible enemy that sucker punches me right to the lungs and takes my breath away."

A close friend and member of his church, Tim Gooch, praised Fuson for always seizing the moment to share important messages.

"He was speaking to anyone who saw that message, please take this seriously, please wear a mask, protect yourself. He wanted to use that moment," said Gooch.

Due to COVID-19, Phos Community Church is holding a drive-by visitation outside the church Wednesday from 7 pm to 8 pm. A private funeral service is scheduled for Thursday.
