Laurel County Schools Police and school administration have "identified the source of the threat and dispelled any potential harm to students and staff" following a potential threat made against North Laurel Middle School Wednesday afternoon.
In a post to social media, the district said that, out of an abundance of caution, additional police will be on school grounds Thursday.
The district encouaged students to report anything that feels unsafe to school administrators, trusted adults or police.

The Laurel County Sheriff's Office reports that a "potential threat" has been shared by a parent on social media involving North Laurel Middle School.
Authorities are working to school police to "ensure the safety of all students and staff," they report.
An increase in police in the area and patrols will occur as a precaution.
