KY 32 will remain open following train derailment in Sadieville

The Scott County Sheriff's Office says they were advised by Norfolk Southern on traffic on KY 32. In a post on social media, the sheriff's office says Norfolk stated, "Within the next hour we will have KY32 limited to flaggers and traffic control for most of the night to move more equipment in.”

The sheriff's office will continue providing updates.

In an update, the Scott County Sheriff's Office confirmed that KY 32 will remain open while the wreckage from Thursday's train derailment is cleared.

The Scott County, Ky. Sheriff's Office reported that Norfolk Southern has shut down KY 32 from the fire station to the tunnel due to the train derailment that occurred on Thursday in Sadieville.

Officials added that crews are working to clear the wreckage and equipment and they noted that traffic in the area will be diverted until cleanup is complete.

It is unclear at this time when the situation will be cleared as winter weather conditions persist, according to officials.

KSP added that a train has stopped in Grant County due to the train derailment in Sadieville, affecting the entrances to Sherman Newtown Road and the south entrance of Needham Lane in Dry Ridge.

The crossings are expected to be blocked for at least two to three days, the Norfolk Southern reported.

Officials in Scott County have confirmed a train derailment in Sadieville.

According to Michael Hennigan with the Scott County EMA, no injuries have been reported and no hazardous materials were involved.

The company is currently en route to relocate the train back on the tracks.
