GEORGETOWN, Ky. (LEX 18) — A black and blue Shirley Warner is home from the hospital with multiple broken bones in his face and his arms covered in bruises.

The retired Scott County road worker says early Monday morning a couple entered his home unannounced.

"Somebody came in and beat me up and robbed me," said Warner.

At first, the 78-year-old wasn't surprised because he says he knew the woman.

"She walked in, he was two steps behind her," said Warner

The senior who suffers from congestive heart failure says he tried to put up a fight but never made it out of his chair. Warner says the man who beat him went straight for his wallet.

"She was the only one who knew I had that money on me, so he beat me up and robbed me. She walked out with him," stated Warner.

His neighbors who look out for Warner said he keeps to himself and never bothers anyone.

"He is an elderly man, he has worked all his life they shouldn't have done that to that poor man," said one lady who wanted to stay anonymous.

Georgetown Police are investigating the incident. If you have any information on the couple, contact the police department.
