Man killed in crash involving motorcycle in Georgetown identified

The Scott County Coroner has confirmed that the driver of the motorcycle who died in the crash was 49-year-old Robert Copeland from Lawrenceburg.

One person is dead and one is with critical injuries following a collision in Georgetown involving a motorcycle.

Georgetown Police report that a "passenger car was traveling northbound on Lexington Road and was attempting to make a left turn onto McClelland Circle during a flashing yellow signal," while a motorcycle was driving southbound on Lexington Road when the two collided.

The driver of the motorcycle died on the scene from his injuries. A passenger has been transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries from the collision.

There are currently no criminal charges expected and the collision remains under investigation. The roadway is expected to be closed for an extended period of time.

Police say they were called to the scene of the accident at approximately 9:22 p.m.

Georgetown Police reports that a fatal collision has occurred at the intersection of McClelland Circle and Lexington Road.

Officials are asking the public to avoid the area while crews investigation and clear the scene.

"Our thoughts are with the individuals and families affected by this tragic incident," Georgetown Police said. "We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work through this difficult situation."
