LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Anita Madden was a sportswoman who was well-known for her lavish Kentucky Derby parties, over-the-top style and love for charity. Two years after she passed away, a Lexington resale shop has some of her vintage clothing.

When Madden passed away in 2018, she left behind closets and closets full of clothes.

"Dresses, two piece outfits, t-shirts, you name it, it was in there," Daniel 'Pop' Shorr, owner of Pops Resale Shop, said.

"Lots of feathers, and there were lots of bangles and lots of sparkles."

Now, you can own a small piece of Kentucky history thanks to Pops Resale Shop.

"We haven't actually done a piece count, but if I had to take a guess, probably 1,000 pieces," Shorr said.

The shop bought the pieces from Anita's estate. Instead of sending the check to the estate, the check was sent to the Bluegrass Boys Ranch. A portion of the proceeds from the resale shop will also be donated to the Bluegrass Boys Ranch, in honor of Anita.

Daniel Shorr says the shop will be filling two racks full of Anita's clothes once a week. "When we open the doors every Friday morning, we will have basically almost an entire new rack from the estate. We'll see how long that lasts. It's going to last for quite a while just because of the sheer volume."

The resale shop opens at 11 a.m and is located at 1423 Leestown Rd, Lexington, KY 40511
