LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX NEWS) — A two-vehicle traffic collision on North Laurel Road Friday night left one 69-year-old London resident deceased and two individuals with possible injuries, according to the Laurel County Sheriff's Office.

According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, the accident occurred approximately three miles north of London on Friday around 11:29 p.m.

A preliminary investigation determined that a white 2000 Mercedes was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 25 when the driver reportedly crossed the center line and struck a 2018 red Chevrolet pick-up truck, head-on, Root reported.

The driver of the Mercedes, identified as 69-year-old George Ferrell from London, died as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead on-scene by the Laurel County Coroner's Office.

The driver of the Chevrolet pick-up truck, identified as a 26-year-old man from East Bernstadt and the passenger of the Chevrolet, a 17-year-old female, were both transported to a London hospital for treatment of possible injuries, according to Root.

Assisting the Laurel County Sheriff's Office on-scene was the Laurel County Coroner's Office, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, East Bernstadt Fire and Rescue, and Eco-Tec.

According to Root, the investigation into the fatal collision remains ongoing.
