LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — An employee of the Bryan Station Kroger is doing well, other than having a sore jaw, after being punched in the face while confronting a shoplifter near the store's entrance.

The incident, which happened on Oct. 28, has police looking for two persons of interest. One male suspect and one female suspect were able to get away by car and left the store with several items stuffed into their clothing.

"We want to find out who this guy because if he has a disposition for violence, committing thefts at one place, there's a good chance we can see him again," said Detective Mark Thomas, who leads the Crime Stoppers Unit for Lexington Division of Police.

Thomas added that this is no longer a case involving a misdemeanor theft because one person of interest took a swing at that store employee.

"He does strike him in the face," said Thomas. "So, when that happened, now we've completely changed over and this is a felony robbery."
