FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — Jerry Lundergan, Kentucky's former democratic party chief, was sentenced to prison time and hit with a hefty fine in Frankfort this afternoon.

This sentencing took over 6 hours but Lundergan, the father of former secretary of state Alision Lundergan Grimes, has been ordered to spend 21 months in prison and pay a $150,000 fine.

Back in September of 2019 Lundergan was convicted of illegally funneling money to his daughters U.S. Senate campaign with the help of Dale Emmons.

Emmons was also sentenced today to 9 months in a community halfway house and a $50,000 fine.

Both men will have to report to their sentence by February of 2021.

Lundergan's lawyer says they will be filing for an appeal.
