NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) — Speaking from her home on Thursday afternoon, James D. Davis' mother, Molly, said her son left her with no other choice.

Molly told police that she shot Davis on Wednesday evening, then called 911. Davis was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

"We've been to that address quite a few times," said Jessamine County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Gerald Wheeler. "My first question last night was: 'Is there an active EPO right now for that address?' Because of me knowing of prior calls going there."

Records show that Davis had, in fact, been arrested numerous times in recent years for domestic issues involving his mother, most recently in September of 2019, for being in violation of a protective order.

Molly said she was hoping her son would get things turned around, and that she will now have to "live with this for the rest of my life."

Detectives with the Jessamine County Sheriff's Department will continue their investigation before taking their findings to the Commonwealth's Attorney. From there, it will be presented to a grand jury to determine if charges against Davis' mother are warranted.
