LEX 18 — On Saturday, President Donald Trump declared that a major disaster exists in the state of Kentucky and ordered federal assistance to support local recovery efforts in the areas affected by the coronavirus.

The President’s action makes federal funding available to the Commonwealth and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations for emergency protective measures. This includes direct federal assistance for all areas in the Commonwealth of Kentucky impacted by COVID-19.

As of Saturday, March 28th, there were 394 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Kentucky and nine deaths. Governor Andy Beshear will hold his daily coronavirus briefing at 5 p.m. every day on LEX 18 and the LEX 18 Facebook page.
