Central Kentucky was swamped with flooding on Saturday, and on Sunday night the weather is shifting gears.

LEX 18 Meteorologist Jill Szwed is forecasting a blast of wintry weather to hit late tonight, so drivers should be careful during the early morning commute.

"Take it slow out there as a reminder, especially as we're getting back after a holiday weekend," Szwed said. "It's Monday morning. A lot of people will be rushing around to get the week started. No hurries, no worries and you'll be just fine!"

A spokeswoman for AAA gave this advice about stocking up on supplies for winter weather driving:

"Make sure that you do have your winter emergency kit put into your car so you have your snow scraper, de-icer, your jumper cables, hats and gloves, and blankets," spokeswoman Lori Weaver Hawkins said.

"Have extra water for people. Make sure your phone is charged up before you hit the road," Hawkins continued.

The snow is set to hit in the overnight hours with some snow showers possible during the morning commute.
