Lexington, KY (LEX 18) — Kentucky football walk-ons Zach Johnson (running back), David Bouvier (wide receiver) and Miles Butler (kicker) each received a scholarship Monday night.
A video from head coach Mark Stoops’ twitter page revealed the announcement, where he brought all three players to the front of the room in front of the team.
After the announcement, their teammates cheered and rushed to celebrate with them.
"It’s honestly a blessing," said Johnson. "My family and me have been working so hard and training my whole life for this one moment right here. It means the world to me and my family."
"That was the first people I called yesterday after they put me on," said Butler. "Just to talk to my parents and hear how happy they were for me, I wouldn’t be where I am without them, there’s no way."
"Feels weird being on a full scholarship now," said Bouvier. "It’s such a blessing. I was so happy for Miles and Zach, especially. They’ve earned it, they’ve worked so hard. They’re the definition of what a true SEC football player should be so super proud of them."
