Lexington, Ky. (LEX 18) — Anderson County’s Charles Andrew (C.A.) Collins is the 2018 High School SportsZone Player of the Year!

In a poll voted on by our viewers, Collins beat out Frederick Douglass’ Damarco Fishback and Western Hills’ Wandale Robinson to win the award.

“It’s very special because it means not only that I was capable of getting the award but that I had a lot of people that thought a lot of me and were willing to vote for me,” said Collins “That probably means more to me than anything, to have support and friends that thought enough of me to vote.”

Collins had a phenomenal junior season for the Bearcats, rushing for 1,474 yards and 21 touchdowns, averaging over 11 yards per carry which was ranked top in the state in 5A. He also had 7 receiving touchdowns.

Collins received a trophy as well as two $25 gift cards courtesy of Burger King.
