CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The 2019 State Farm Dark Horse Dunker Fan Vote Contest will have a familiar face in the competition this season as Campbellsville University’s Deion Evans was selected.

Evans, a senior from Philadelphia, was selected over thousands of basketball players from across the country to compete in the Dark Horse Dunker fan vote with 15 other participants. The committee selected finalists based upon their demonstrated skillset, statistics throughout their college career, character and leadership qualities.

The competition is scheduled to begin today, Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 1 p.m. ET on the official website – www.darkhorsedunker.com.

During the contest voting period, players will be voted on by the public on the website in a bracket-style fan voting competition featuring a profile. Voters can vote up to once per device  per day in each head-to-head bracket match-up. The player with the highest number of votes after Round 1, will move into the quarterfinals scheduled in one week.

There are a total of four weeks of voting:

  • Round of 16 – Feb. 19-26
  • Quarterfinals – Feb. 27 – March 6
  • Semifinals – March 7 – March 14
  • Finals – March 15 – 22

The winner of the fan vote will earn the grand prize of receiving an invitation and a roster spot at the 2019 State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships scheduled to take place on April 4, 2019.

Fans are encouraged to check out the website – www.darkhorsedunker.com – for complete highlight reels of each dunker starting at 1 p.m. ET today.

This is the second straight season Campbellsville has had a student-athlete compete in either the dunk competition or 3-point shootout. Last year, incoming signee from Mercer County High School, Lexy Lake, was chosen and voted upon by family and friends to participate in the finals at the 2018 NCAA DI Women’s Basketball National Championship. She finished runner-up.
