BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Landen Bartleson, a standout football player at Boyle County High School, was informed that he is no longer offered a scholarship to Notre Dame following his arrest on Friday night, NDInsider.com reported.
Bartleson committed to play football for the Fighting Irish in back in June.
According to Danville police, Bartleson, 18, and two juveniles were arrested after breaking into On Target and stealing nine firearms on Friday night.
Bartleson is facing charges of Burglary, 1st degree, Criminal Mischief, 1st degree, Receiving stolen property and Unlawful transaction with a minor.
"After reviewing all of the facts available to us and speaking with the Bartleson family, we informed them that Landen will no longer be welcomed as a member of our football program," Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly said Saturday in a statement.
"This incident is very much out of character for the man we have come to know and we wish Landen and his family well."
A 3-star recruit, Bartleson also possessed offers from Colorado, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Ohio State, Purdue, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and West Virginia, according to 247sports.
