Scott County Advances in Sweet 16 For First Time Since 2010

LEXINGTON, Ky- Scott County raced out to a comfortable cushion and padded the stat sheet from there in a dominant 87-61 win over Knott County Central in the first round of the KHSAA Girls’ Sweet 16.

The Cardinals hit 12-28 from behind the three-point line and were led by Maaliya Owens who tallied 30 points, with six three-pointers. Morgan Defoor backed her up with 21 points.

With the win, Scott County advances past the first round for the first time since 2010.

They move onto the quarterfinal where the team will play Owensboro Catholic.
