Legends Swat Greenjackets with 18-3 Victory

The Lexington Legends took game one over the Augusta Greenjackets with a 18-3 victory. Every Legend collected a hit, including Nick Pratto, who recorded a career high four hits with four runs scored and 3 RBI.

The Greenjackets were first to strike in the top of the first inning. Logan Baldwin led off with a double then scored on an RBI single by Heliot Ramos.

The Legends began their barrage of runs in the bottom of the first inning. Kyle Isbel drew a leadoff walk then moved to third on a single by MJ Melendez. Nick Pratto then lined a double to left field and Isbel was able to score and Melendez moved to third. Brewer Hicklen then grounded out to the shortstop, but Melendez scored. Manny Olloque then singled home Pratto and the Legends led 3-1.

In the bottom of the third inning, Melendez double to centerfield then scored on an RBI single to right field by Pratto. Hicklen then smacked an RBI triple to left field. With Hicklen on third, Manny Olloque hit his first homer of the night, and the Legends extended their lead 7-1.

In the top of the fourth inning, Trevor Abrams hit a home run to left field and Augusta continued to trail 7-2.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Pratto led off with a single to right field then moved to second when Hicklen was hit by a pitch. Cristian Perez then lined a two-run double to left field. With Perez at second, Cal Jones blasted a two-run home run and Lexington continued to lead 11-2.

The Legends would then go on to score three more in the bottom of the sixth. Pratto and Hicklen drew back-to-back walks. Olloque then tattooed a three-run homer to left field, and Lexington led 14-2.

In the top of the seventh inning, Shane Matheny led off with a single then moved to third on a fielding error by right fielder Cal Jones. Ismael Munguia then lined out to right field and Matheny was able to score.

After the seventh inning stretch, Isbel lined a double to the right field wall then scored on an RBI single by Pratto.

The Legends scored their final runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Perez led off with a single to right field then moved to third on a double by Sebastian Rivero. Aracena then brought home Perez with an RBI single to right field and Rivero moved to third. Keenan Bartlett then threw a wild pitch and Rivero scored. An RBI single by Melendez brought home Aracena and Lexington held on to the 18-3 victory.

JC Cloney was awarded the victory for Lexington, pitching 7.0 innings allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits while walking one and striking out six. Garrett Cave was given the loss pitching 4.0 innings allowing seven runs on eight hits while walking one and striking out four.

The Legends and Greenjackets face off again tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. RHP Jackson Kowar (0-1, 3.38 ERA) will be on the mound for Lexington and Augusta will send LHP Caleb Baragar (2-2, 4.19 ERA). Celebrate the final Tuesday of the season with 25¢ Eisenberg hot dogs all night long! Fans will also be able to participate in a hot dog eating contest that will take place during the game. The World Record is 74 hot dogs and we are sure a Legends fan could beat that mark!
