Lexington, Ky. – Transylvania women’s basketball junior guard Shelby Boyle has been selected to the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week presented by Scoutware for the week of February 18.

Boyle, a junior from Morgantown, West Virginia (Morgantown HS), was one of five women’s basketball players from around the nation at the Division III level chosen by D3Hoops.com to the Team of the Week based on top performance from games played over the previous week.

Boyle led the No. 20 nationally-ranked Pioneers to another 2-0 week in regular season play on the way to helping her team clinch its first regular-season Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference title in four seasons.

The junior’s week was highlighted by a career-high 33-point performance in Transylvania’s season-ending 85-68 win at Anderson on Saturday. Boyle helped Transylvania erase an early 11-point deficit by shooting 13-for-18 from the field and connecting on 6-of-9 three-pointers. Boyle provided another signature all-around line of 33 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block.

Boyle also led the Pioneers to an equally crucial victory this past Wednesday, a 90-52 victory against Franklin that allowed Transylvania to clinch the regular-season title and No. 1 seed in this week’s upcoming HCAC Women’s Basketball Tournament. In the victory against Franklin, Boyle enjoyed another sharpshooting night, scoring 17 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the field while putting together an effective field goal percentage of 71 percent.

For the week, Boyle amassed 50 points over two games, 12 rebounds, eight assists, two steals, and one block while shooting 67 percent from the floor and 56 percent from the 3-point line.

This is the first time in her career Boyle has been selected to the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week.

Boyle and the Pioneers return to play on Friday, February 22 for the semifinal round of the HCAC Tournament. Transylvania squares off against the winner of Tuesday’s HCAC first-round contest between Defiance and Mount St. Joseph at the Beck Center at 6:00 p.m. on Friday for the right to play in Saturday’s 6:00 p.m. conference championship game, also played at the Beck Center.
