Lexington Legends Fall to West Virginia Power in Game Two

WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK (Lexington, KY) – The Lexington Legends fell to the West Virginia Power, 4-0 in game two of the three game series. The Legends drop to 2-3 while the Power improves to 3-3 on the season.

The Power plated their first run of the game in the top of the fourth inning. Julio Rodriguez lined a single to left centerfield. Onil Pena then doubled him home and West Virginia led, 1-0.

West Virginia continued to score in the top of the sixth inning. Julio Rodriguez was hit by a pitch then was joined on the base path when Onil Pena drew a walk. Cesar Trejo then blasted a three-run homer to right field, extending the Power’s lead 4-0.

Logan Gilbert was awarded the win, tossing 5.0 shutout innings allowing just one hit while striking out nine. Austin Cox was given the loss in his South Atlantic League debut, pitching 5.0 innings allowing one run on two hits while walking one and striking out five.

The Legends and Power meet again Wednesday, April 10 at 10:35 a.m. for Education Day. Lexington’s RHP Charlie Neuweiler (0-0, 3.60 ERA) will face West Virginia’s RHP Clay Chandler (0-0, 0.00 ERA).
