MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – Five Eastern Kentucky University women’s golfers earned Ohio Valley Conference honors and first-year head coach Mandy Moore was selected as the 2019 OVC Coach of the Year, the league announced tonight at its annual awards banquet held in conjunction with the 2019 OVC Championship at The Shoals on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

Elsa Moberly, Amanda Lindahl, Ragnhildur Kristinsdottir and Hannabeth Owens were chosen to the 10-member All-OVC Team.  Bailey Hubbard was one of five players from across the conference picked to the OVC All-Newcomer Team.

No other OVC team produced more than two all-conference honorees.  All four of Eastern’s All-OVC selections rank among the top-10 in the conference in scoring average.

Moberly leads the team and is second in the conference with a 73.73 scoring average.  She is coming off a pair of individual victories in Eastern’s last two events and shot 14 rounds at par or under this season.  The senior from Somerset, Kentucky has six top-10 finishes in 10 events.  She was chosen as the OVC Women’s Golfer of the Week five times in 2018-19.

Moberly is now a three-time All-OVC selection.  She joins Beverly Brockman (3), Lisanne Schmidt (3) and Sofie Levin (4) as the only Colonels to earn All-OVC honors three or more times.

Lindahl is second on the team, and fourth in the league, with a 75.17 stroke average.  She has three top-10 performances this season.  The senior from Ulricehamm, Sweden also earned All-OVC recognition last season and was the 2016 OVC Freshman of the Year.

Kristinsdottir is right behind Lindahl in fifth with a 75.85 stroke average.  The Reykjavik, Iceland native was the 2018 OVC Freshman of the Year.

Owens ranks 10th in the conference with a 76.50 stroke average.  The junior from Crab Orchard, Kentucky also earned all-conference honors last season.

Hubbard, a freshman from Manchester, Kentucky, carries a 77.24 stroke average, which is among the top-20 in the OVC.

Moore, a Frankfort, Kentucky native, led the Colonels to eight top-10 performances in 10 events this season, including two first place finishes.  Eastern won the Colonel Classic and the Jan Weaver Invitational in its final two regular season appearances.  As a team, EKU leads the conference with a 299 stroke average.

Moore is the fourth EKU women’s golf coach to be selected as the OVC Coach of the Year, joining Sandy Martin (1995 and 1996), Joni Stephens (2005) and Mike Whitson (2013, 2015 and 2016).

The second round of the 2019 OVC Championship begins at 9 a.m. ET on Tuesday.  The Colonels will begin teeing off at 10:40 a.m. ET.
