RICHMOND, Ky. – In what will likely be the first of several preseason national rankings this summer, the Eastern Kentucky University football team is ranked 25th in Lindy’s Sports Preseason Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Top 25.  The publication recently hit newsstands.

EKU is one of three Ohio Valley Conference teams ranked among the top squads in the nation.  The “Colonels won last four games of 2018; defense primed to lead squad to first playoffs since ’14,” Lindy’s wrote.

Fans can purchase 2019 season tickets NOW by visiting EKUSports.com or calling 844-3-GoBigE.  For information or questions about our special theme days and unique game day experiences for groups of 15 or more, call Alex Harrison at (859) 358-9272.

Jacksonville State is rated fourth in the nation, and picked by Lindy’s to win the OVC.  Southeast Missouri is ranked 16th.  The Colonels will play a non-conference game at Indiana State on Sept. 14.  The Sycamores are one spot in front of Eastern at No. 24 in the preseason poll.

The magazine includes a full preview of the OVC.

EKU welcomes back 18 starters from last season’s 7-4 team that just missed out on the program’s 22nd NCAA Playoffs appearance.  Eastern Kentucky was one of just 27 teams in the nation to win seven or more games against Division I teams in 2018.

The 2019 season begins for the Colonels on August 28 at home against Valparaiso at 7 p.m.
