LEXINGTON, Ky.  – Indiana scored three goals in the opening half and added two more in the second half to outscore the Wildcats and take the three points on a rainy, gloomy day in Bloomington on Friday afternoon by a 5-1 scoreline.

Kentucky will return to action on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET against Furman. The match will be shown live on the SEC Network+, ESPN+ and the ESPN app. There will be a Big Blue Nation Bang-A-Banner giveaway.

Miranda Jimenez got the Wildcats on the scoresheet just over two minutes into the second half as she finished a beautifully-weighted cross from sophomore Caroline Newland from the right side. Jimenez was making a far-side run along the left and was there at the back post when the ball came down to bury it. It was also Caroline Newland’s first-career point. Eva Mitchell had the secondary assist, as she adds to her team lead of four assists this season.

After UK had garnered the momentum after the break and got on the scoresheet, IU scored a wonder goal six minutes later on a blast 27 yards out with pace and trajectory that found the back of the net to increase the lead back to three.

IU got on the board in the 17th minute through the boot of Caroline Dreher off a corner and then doubled their lead in the 27th minute on Abby Allen’s fifth goal of the season. After a corner kick, the re-fire was finished on the second entry into the attacking third by Allison Jorden.
