UK Leads U of L 35-10 at the Half

Kentucky and Louisville meeting in their annual rivalry with UK looking for a 9th win, U of L it’s 3rd.

The Wildcats held the Cardinals and forced a punt to start the game. Then, UK made it count as Benny Snell, Jr. scored on a 7 yard touchdown.

The Cats stopped the Cardinals again and then put together a 9 play, 84 yard drive. The highlights were a Terry Wilson to C.J. Conrad pickup of 27 yards down to the three. Wilson would finish on the next play to put Kentucky up 14-0.

Louisville would strike quickly. On the first play of the next drive, Cardinals Quarterback Malik Cunningham, showed his speed on a 75 yard touchdown run. That tied a U of L record by a quarterback, former Cardinal, Lamar Jackson. UK’s lead was down to 14-7.

The Cats got their third possession and after converting a 4th and 1 play, Benny Snell, Jr. carried the ball 24 yards for a touchdown. UK had three possessions and three touchdowns. 21-7 Wildcats.

After the Cardinals added a 32 yard field goal to cut it to 21-10, the Cats had another drive as Wilson hit Bowden for a 32 gain. Then, on 3rd and long, Wilson scrambled for a big play and was hit with a helmet-to-helmet shot that had the Cardinals P.J. Mbanasor ejected. Then, Wilson found a wide open Bowden in the end zone for a 28 yard touchdown. UK up 28-10.

Another UK stop and the Cats got the ball with 2:06 to play. Wilson found Josh Ali for a 20 yard gain. Then, Wilson found Bowden for another touchdown. Cats led 35-10 at the half.

Wilson was 14-16 for 208 yards and 2 touchdowns while rushing for another.
