Former UK Basketball player, Alex Poythress, said on Twitter that he’s thankful for a successful surgery today for his mother and sister.
His mother, Regina, has been dealing with kidney failure for some time and they recently found out that his twin sister, Alexis, was a match. So, today, a kidney transplant took place and it appears that all is going well in the early going.
Surgery for my mom & my sister went great! Thanks for everyone who thought about my family. Love these 2 women to death. pic.twitter.com/5BqjZDGWBj

Poythress’ former coach, John Calipari, even asked earlier in the day for prayers and well wishes for the family.
I know I'm asking for a lot of prayers lately but this one we really need your help with, #BBN. @AlexTheGreat22's sister is giving one of her kidneys to her mother today. The ultimate sacrifice! Thinking about Alex and his family today.
