LEXINGTON, Ky- Mark Stoops isn’t shy in saying that the front seven this year may be the best he’s had since taking over at Kentucky. It’s also no mystery that the defensive backfield is a massive concern for this years team.

Gone are starters Mike Edwards, Derrick Baity, Darius West, and Lonnie Johnson.  That means all four starters will need to be replaced, which brings up a lot of concern, as would any position that has so much inexperience. But Coach Stoops at least has acknowledged that the group hasn’t struggled too bad.

“It’s not like we’re going out there and I’m noticing them being terrible during the scrimmage,” said Coach Mark Stoops.  They’re holding their own and have given up very few big plays today. Overall they’re doing okay.”
