We are enjoying another beautiful day across Central and Eastern Kentucky, with plenty of sunshine and just a few fair-weather clouds developing during the afternoon. Temperatures are expected to reach the upper 70s and low 80s for most of us, and with lower humidity sticking around, it continues to feel very comfortable outside.
This quiet stretch of weather will continue through Tuesday before temperatures, humidity and rain chances begin to increase by the middle of the week.
Another cool and clear night
We will remain mostly clear as we head through Monday evening and into the overnight hours.
Temperatures will fall back into the upper 50s and low 60s by early Tuesday morning, giving us another little taste of fall for late August. With clear skies and light winds, some of the typical river valleys could also see patchy fog develop by Tuesday morning.
Tuesday brings more sunshine
Tuesday will pretty much be a carbon copy of what we've experienced Sunday and Monday.
High pressure remains in control, bringing plenty of sunshine, lower humidity and comfortable temperatures. Afternoon highs will generally reach the low to mid 80s, while dew points remain in the 50s.
The quiet weather sticks around through Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning before our pattern begins to change.
Warmer with storm chances Wednesday
Temperatures will begin climbing Wednesday as high pressure shifts east and a warm front moves into the Ohio Valley.
Afternoon highs will warm into the upper 80s, while increasing moisture will make it feel a little more humid. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms will become possible Wednesday afternoon, especially across Central and Southern Kentucky.
There will be plenty of instability and moisture available for thunderstorms, so a stronger storm or two can't be completely ruled out. However, widespread severe weather is not expected at this time.
More storms Thursday before drying out
Another weather system will move toward the Ohio Valley Thursday, bringing a cold front and another opportunity for scattered showers and thunderstorms Thursday into Friday.
Drier air should begin working into the area behind the front, helping lower our rain chances as we approach the weekend. Temperatures, however, may not cool very much. Highs should remain in the upper 80s Friday before potentially climbing into the low 90s over the weekend.
