FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — Loved ones of Green River Correctional Complex inmates rallied at the State Capitol on Saturday.

On Friday, it was announced that every inmate and staff member had been tested for COVID-19. However, the numbers are still alarming.

There are 403 positive (353 inmates, 50 staff members) COVID-19 cases and two coronavirus-related deaths as of May 9th. These numbers have loved ones concerned.

“We feel like the Governor is not taking us serious," said Phoenix Shepherd, who is married to one of the inmates. "There are 389 cases at Green River and 3 inmates have died. We understand that he has done the testing which is great but more has to be done or there will be more deaths and more cases."
