Detroit Mercy backs out of Bluegrass Showcase due to COVID-19

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Detroit Mercy has decided not to travel to Lexington this week for the Bluegrass Showcase due to issues with COVID-19.

The school announced that there was a positive test within the program.

The positive test came about from a member of the support staff and that individual is not experiencing any symptoms and is now in quarantine. No other players or coaches have tested positive, although a few members of the team are in isolation due to contact tracing.

Brad Calipari and Detroit Mercy were scheduled to face his dad and Kentucky Friday night.

Kentucky will tip-off the 2020 season Wednesday at 6 p.m. against Morehead St.

Richmond is the other school participating. Kentucky is scheduled to play them Sunday at 1 p.m.

Morehead St. will play Richmond Friday.
