The Frederick Douglass Broncos fell in its first ever State Championship appearance 14-7 at the hands of Covington Catholic.

Covington Catholic seemed to be in control the entire game, leading 14-0 after three quarters.

With help from Devin Neal (14 carries, 108 yards), the offense finally got a spark in the 4th quarter where Neal marched the team down the field before the drive was capped of by ty Bryant midway through the quarter.

The Broncos, trailing 14-7, had a final chance with a minute to play after the Colonels failed to convert with a field goal that would've put the game out of reach.

But on 4th and 9 with a minute to go and no timeouts remaining, Josh McClurg was sacked, ending Douglass' season with a loss.

This was Frederick Douglass' first State Championship appearance in just its third season as a program. They finished the year with a 14-1 record.
