RICHMOND, Ky. — Eastern Kentucky University Football released an eleven game schedule for 2021 as it begins its first year in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

The Colonels new league will also join forces for one season with the Western Athletic Conference on a scheduling alliance that will produce an automatic qualifier for the FCS Playoffs.

Three schools in the A-Sun (EKU, Jacksonville St. and Central Arkansas) and four from the WAC (Abilene Christian, Lamar University, Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin) will play a one game, round-robin and the team with the higher percentage will earn that automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs. Each team will have three home and three away games.

The Colonels 11 game schedule includes six home games and four first-time opponents.

EKU will open with two games on the road at Western Carolina and Louisville before returning to Roy Kidd Stadium for the home opener against Indiana State.

After taking on Austin Peay and Tarleton out of Texas, EKU will play its first ASUN-WAC Challenge contest at home against Abilene Christian on Oct. 9.
