RICHMOND, Ky. — Eastern Kentucky University Athletics made it official today. Steve Lochmueller has resigned as Athletics Director to pursue other opportunities.
Lochmueller was named athletics director in April 2015 after a long career in business and technology fields. During his time at EKU, the GPA's of the student-athletes were at an all-time high, he added beach volleyball and the Colonels won four straight OVC Governor's Cups which shows overall excellence within a program.
A national search will start immediately but, in the meantime, former EKU Athletics Director, Mark Sandy, will take over on an interim basis.
