RICHMOND, Ky. — EKU student-athletes have already started returning to campus for voluntary workouts with strength and conditioning coaches.

Colonels athletes are returning in phases. Men's basketball and football players living in the region were allowed to return already on June 8. More athletes of those teams were set to return June 14-16. The women's basketball team has plans to return in July while soccer and volleyball will be evaluated.

All student-athletes have to fill out surveys and take COVID-19 tests. When cleared, workouts and common areas like locker rooms, training rooms and meeting rooms will be limited to 10 people per group which includes 9 student-athletes and one sports performance coach through June 30th.

In it's release, EKU Vice President and Director of Athletics Matt Roan said “The ability to continue to progress is dependent on our ability to do things the right way. Our staff and administration are committed to the safety and welfare of our student-athletes. That is of supreme importance.”
