RICHMOND, Ky. — Eastern Kentucky guard Wendell Green Jr. has been named OVC Freshman of the week for the first time in his career.

Green Jr. averaged 20 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in a couple of wins for the Colonels last week. It was highlighted by a career-high 30 at Austin Peay during EKU's 80-75 where he also hit 5-of-7 from behind the three point arc. Green also added nine points, a career-high five steals, three assists and three rebounds against Eastern Illinois last Wednesday.

The Detroit native now leads all OVC freshmen in assists-per-game (4.5) and steals-per-game (2.0), and he ranks second in scoring (11.8 points-per-game).

Green Jr. will be back on the court with the Colonels this week as EKU hosts Jacksonville State (January 7) and Tennessee Tech (January 9) at McBrayer Arena.
