Former Reds star Brandon Phillips will play for the Legends

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Former Cincinnati Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips is going to join the Lexington Legends to play in the Battle of the Bourbon Trail. His brother P.J. will become the manager for the team.

Brandon played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball with several teams but spent eleven of those years with the Cincinnati Reds. He's a 3-time MLB All-Star, 4-time Gold Glove winner, Silver Slugger Award winner, 30-30 Club, and a World Series Champion with the Boston Red Sox in 2018.

P.J. started his managing career in 2017 where he led the Vallejo Admirals to the Pacific Association Championship. As a player, Phillips was take in the 2nd round of the 2005 MLB Draft by the L.A. Angels. He also played in the Cincinnati Reds system before winning a Championship in 2013 for the Long Island Ducks in the Atlantic League.

The Battle of the Bourbon Trail games take place at Whitaker Bank Ballpark every Wednesday through Sunday until September 13th. Fans are welcome at all Battle of the Bourbon Trail games and can purchase tickets by visiting lexingtonlegends.com. Face Coverings are required at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
