RICHMOND, Ky. — The National Association of Basketball Coaches named Eastern Kentucky's A.W. Hamilton as the District 18 National Coach of the Year. His guard, Jomaru Brown, was also named All-District First-Team.

The second year Colonels coach led his team to a 9-2 start in OVC play which was its best start in 41 years. EKU would finish 12-6 with a number four seed in the OVC Tournament. The 12 OVC wins is tied for second-most in program history and only four other past EKU teams ever won 12 or more games.

Brown averaged 18 points including a game-high 41 points against in-state rival Western Kentucky--the fourth most ever scored by a Colonel. The sophomore also ranked third in the OVC in steals per game with 1.9 and was 12th in free throw percentage at 75%. Brown has already crossed the 1,000 point mark for his career.
