MOREHEAD, Ky. — Morehead State University forward Johni Broome got off to a fast start in his career with the Eagles and he's reaping the rewards. Broome was named the first OVC Freshman of the Week in the league.
Broome started his college career with 11 points and five rebounds against Kentucky in Rupp Arena and then had six points and six rebounds against Richmond.
But, the Plant City, Florida native then had a huge game in his first home game for the Eagles. Broome had 25 points and 12 rebounds while also blocking five shots against Arkansas State.
His point total was the most by a freshman since Jordan Walker scored 26 at UT Martin in 2016-'17.
Broome and the Eagles are back on the road Wednesday night to face No. 23 Ohio State at 5:00 PM.
