LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky freshman forward, Kahlil Whitney, is one of 20 players on the Julius Erving Award watch list. It's an honor that goes to the top small forward in college basketball.
Whitney is one of just six freshman on the list and one of just two players from the Southeastern Conference. He's the third Wildcat to receive such honors. Tyrese Maxey is up for the Jerry West Award which is given to the top point guard and Ashtan Hagans is up for the Bob Cousy Award which goes to the top point guard.
Whitney is a consensus top 15 player in the freshman class. He averaged 19 points and 6 rebounds in his senior season at Roselle Catholic High School in New Jersey.
