Hannah Hamelback

Sports MMJ

Hannah graduated from Western Kentucky University in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Arts in broadcasting, a minor in journalism, and a certificate in strategic communication. Just ten days after earning her degree, she began her career as a Sports Multimedia Journalist at LEX18.

A proud native of Paris, Kentucky, Hannah grew up watching LEX18. In the summer of 2024, she interned with BBN Tonight, where she gained valuable insights into sports reporting and built connections that helped land her post-grad dream job back home.

Hannah's interest in journalism began in high school when she joined her school newspaper. Through various roles, she gained valuable public speaking experience, which fueled her passion for broadcasting. Driven by her enthusiasm for sports, whether playing, working, or watching, Hannah knew she wanted a future that centered around sports broadcasting.

In college, she actively participated in the media department and student newscasts, and was selected by faculty for the ESPN Digital Media School Outreach Program. Hannah also became a published author in the Spring 2025 issue of The Horsemen’s Journal with her feature story on award-winning turf writer, Jennie Rees.

Now, Hannah is excited to cover Big Blue Nation and Central Kentucky sports. Connect with her on X @hhamelbackTV or email her story ideas at hannah.hamelback@wlex.tv.
